English: Arabian Sea (Sept. 9, 2006) – Aviation Ordnanceman 2nd Class Ryan Grogan, of Indianapolis, Ind., verifies component serial numbers on a GBU-38 Joint Attack Direct Munition loaded on an F/A-18F Super Hornet, attached to the "Checkmates" of Strike Fighter Squadron Two One One (VFA-211), on the flight deck aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65). Enterprise and embarked Carrier Air Wing ONE (CVW-1) are currently on a scheduled six-month deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism. For the last five consecutive days aircraft assigned to CVW-1 have provided support to International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops on the ground as part of Operations Medusa and Enduring Freedom near Kandahar, Afghanistan. Coordinated with coalition air forces and ISAF troops on the ground, Enterprise aircraft provided close air support for ISAF troops encountering resistance from Taliban extremists in multiple locations around Kandahar Sept. 6 and Sept. 7.
