English: Coronado, Calif. (Aug. 24, 2006) – Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class Joseph Jeffcott waves goodbye to his wife and children as he boards a commercial airplane with Sailors from Naval Coastal Warfare Squadron Three Four (NCWRON 34) bound for Kuwait. NCWRON-34 is scheduled to conduct Port Security operations in support of the global war on terrorism. In January the Navy created the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, (NECC), consolidating Explosive Ordnance Desposal (EOD), Naval Coastal Warfare, Navy Expeditionary Logistic Support functions and Seabees under one organization. NECC integrates all war fighting requirements for expeditionary combat and combat support elements. This transformation allows for standardized training, manning and equipping of Sailors who will participate on the global war on terrorism as part of the joint force.
