Description
English: Pacific Ocean (May 21, 2006) - Deck department personnel set up a close-in fuel rig while preparing for a replenishment-at-sea (RAS) aboard the conventional aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). RAS is the on and off loading of fuel and stores while ships are under way. Currently conducting Sea Trials in the western Pacific Ocean, Kitty Hawk demonstrates power projection and sea control as the U.S. Navy's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, operating from Yokosuka, Japan.
