Comfort most recently assisted in the relief effort in the aftermath of both Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita rendering care to more than 1500 patients. The current exercise will integrate both U.S. military and embarked allied forces, enhancing flexibility should a real contingency arise. Comfort has unique capabilities for humanitarian relief missions and casualty receiving, including helicopter lift, advanced medical equipment, a wide range of medical specialties, berthing and personnel support, as well as supplies to support medical operations ashore.
