English: Atlantic Ocean (Jan. 14, 2006) – The Executive Officer of the command and control ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC/JCC 20) Lt. Cmdr. Steven Hull, looks through the big eyes on the ship’s bridge wing at a small vessel believed to be in distress off the coast of Sierra Leone, Africa. A rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB) from the frigate USS Carr (FFG 52) provided assistance, and in less than two hours the distressed vessel was on its way home under its own power with enough provisions to make it back to land safely. Both ships were heading for waters off the coast of Monrovia, Liberia to help commemorate the inauguration of newly elected President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, on Jan. 16.
