English: Atlantic Ocean (Oct. 2, 2005) - Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class William Narcusbrown, assigned to a Landing Craft, Utility (LCU) from Assault Craft Unit Two, directs the driver of a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) to back down the loading ramp of his LCU in the well deck aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Austin (LPD 4). Four LCUs transferred equipment from the shores of Camp Lejeune, N.C. to Austin and other ships in Expeditionary Strike Group Eight and back again during the Certification Exercise (CERTEX). The exercise will allow the crew of Austin to work closely and train with Marines of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit in a scenario-based training environment. CERTEX is Austin’s final underway exercise before deployment. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 3rd Class Andrew King (RELEASED) |
