HSL-48 is currently embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7). The Navy's involvement in the Hurricane Rita humanitarian assistance operations are led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with the Department of Defense.
