U.S. military personnel, along with Mexican military, provided assistance at the school which will be used as a shelter, providing food and medicine for the evacuees. The Navy and Marines’ involvement in the Hurricane Katrina humanitarian assistance operations is led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with the Department of Defense.
