English: Gonaives, Haiti (May 9, 2005) - Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1661 approaches the amphibious assault ship USS Nassau (LHA 4) in the Caribbean Sea during the backload of equipment and personal from New Horizons Haiti 2005. The New Horizons Task Force finished a three-month deployment to Haiti conducting a humanitarian and civic assistance mission sponsored by Commander U.S. Southern Command. The Task Force conducting New Horizons built schools, drilled potable water wells and conducted free health clinics. New Horizons provided relevant training to U.S. engineering and medical units while fostering goodwill between the U.S. and nations in the Americas.
