English: Gonaives, Haiti (May 7, 2005) - Equipment Operator 1st Class Petty Officer Christopher Bowhuis, finalizes the “plan” to stage equipment to be moved from Camp Unity, Haiti, to a local port. Bowhuis is a assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One (NMCB-1) stationed in Gulfport, Miss. NMCB-1 is part of the New Horizon Task Force, which is deployed to Haiti for three months on a humanitarian and civic assistance mission sponsored by commander U.S. Southern Command. New Horizons provided relevant training to U.S. engineering and medical units while fostering goodwill between the U.S. and nations in the Americas by building schools, drilling potable water wells and conducting free health clinics.
