English: Sibolga, Indonesia (Apr. 5, 2005) - Volunteer medical professionals from the non-governmental organization "Project HOPE", along with U.S. Navy personnel destined for the Military Sealift Command (MSC) hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19), disembark a Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Fokker 50 aircraft. The RSAF's support of transporting critical U.S. medical specialists to augment the existing staff of Mercy's Military Treatment Facility (MTF) is increasing the MTF's capabilities to provide care for victims of the 8.7 magnitude March 28, 2005 earthquake off the west coast of Sumatra. At the request of the government of Indonesia, the Military Sealift Command (MSC) hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) and the MSC combat stores ship USNS Niagara Falls (T-AFS 3) are on station off the coast of Nias, providing assistance as determined appropriate and necessary with earthquake disaster relief efforts and provide medical assistance to those in need.
