English: Virginia Beach, Va. (Feb. 11, 2005) - Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Adm. William J. Fallon climbs into the backseat of an F-14D Tomcat, assigned to the “Grim Reapers” of Fighter Squadron 101 (VF-101), on board Naval Air Station Oceana, Va. Adm. Fallon, a Naval Flight Officer, was invited by VF-101 for a last-flight courtesy ride due to F-14 Tomcat’s upcoming retirement. Fallon has logged more than 1,300 carrier-arrested landings and 4,800 flight hours in tactical jet aircraft. VF-101 is the U.S. Navy's sole Fleet Replacement Squadron for the F-14 Tomcat, training aircrew and maintenance personnel for the fleet. The squadron trains pilots, radar intercept officers, and enlisted personnel in the operation and employment of the F-14 Tomcat fighter. U.S. Navy photo by Lt. Rico R. Harris (RELEASED) |
