English: Gonaives, Haiti (May 7, 2005) – Chief Equipment Operator Mark Thomas (right) speaks with Master Sgt. Thomas Evans about preparations move equipment from Camp Unity to the amphibious assault ship USS Nassau (LHA 4). Camp Unity is closing after being the home base for a three-month humanitarian mission in Gonaives, Haiti. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One (NMCB-1) is part of the New Horizons Task Force, which is deployed to Haiti for three months to conduct humanitarian and civic assistance mission sponsored by Commander U.S. Southern Command. The Task Force conducting New Horizons built schools, drilled potable water wells and conducted free health clinics.
