English: South China Sea (Sept. 14, 2004) - The aircrew of an F-14D Tomcat assigned to the "Tomcatters" of Fighter Squadron Three One (VF-31), try to relax while standing the “Alert Seven” watch, aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). The watch consist of a manned and ready aircraft ready to respond to an airborne threat within minutes. Stennis and embarked Carrier Air Wing Fourteen (CVW-14) are currently participating in a scheduled deployment to the Western Pacific Ocean.
