English: Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily (Aug. 23, 2004) - Chief Engineman Brian Gawlic shows, chief petty officer (CPO) selectees Hospital Corpsman 1st Class John Harris and Operations Specialist 1st Class Wayne Shelton the belt and buckle they will wear as a CPO while shopping for uniforms in the Navy Exchange (NEX). The CPO selectees and their sponsors picked out the uniforms they will wear as chiefs once they complete their indoctrination and training. Once the selectees have completed the voluntary six-weeks of leadership building, physical training and various exercises conducted by current CPOs, the selectees will assume their duties and join the CPO mess. Sigonella provides logistics support for Commander, U.S. Sixth Fleet and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces in the Mediterranean area of operation.
