English: Pacific Ocean (Aug. 6, 2004) – Guided missile destroyer USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54) sails alongside Military Sealift Command oiler USNS Yukon (T-AO 202) during replenishment at sea evolution. The Kitty Hawk Carrier Strike Group is one of seven carrier strike groups (CSGs) involved in Summer Pulse 2004, demonstrating the Navy's ability to provide credible combat power across the globe in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. USNS YUKON (T-AO 202), At Sea (Aug. 6, 2004) - USS Curtis Wilbur (CG 54) sails alongside USNS Yukon (T-AO 202) during a replenishment-at-sea evolution. Replenishment at sea is the on and off loading of fuel and stores while ships are under way. As part of the Kitty Hawk Strike Group, Curtis Wilbur and Yukon are involved in Summer Pulse 2004, demonstrating the Navy's ability to provide credible combat power across the globe in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Summer Pulse is the Navy's first test of its new Fleet Response Plan (FRP). Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), the Kitty Hawk Strike Group demonstrates power projection and sea control as the world's only permanently forward-deployed strike group, operating from Yokosuka, Japan.
