English: Japan (July 19, 2004) – Crewmembers stand a force protection watch at one of the .50-caliber machine gun mounts aboard ship while USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) departs its operating base of Yokosuka, Japan. The Kitty Hawk Strike Group is participating in Summer Pulse 2004, the simultaneous deployment of seven carrier strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide credible combat across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces.
