English: Souda Bay, Crete, Greece (Jan. 21, 2004) -- The guided missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG-67) arrives for short port visit. This is USS Cole´s first deployment since a terrorist attack on the ship killed 17 crew members and injured 39 other while refueling in the port of Aden, Yemen. The ship was repaired by the Navy’s Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Repair and Conversion (SUPSHIP), Ingall’s Shipyard, Pascagoula, Miss., for an estimated $250 million. Cole is part of a three ship Surface Strike Group (SSG) assigned to USS Enterprise (CVN-65) Carrier Strike Group (CSG). |
