Description
English: 7th Fleet Area of Responsibility (Dec. 6, 2003) -- Machinist’s Mate Fireman Steven Kuhn, from Churchill, Tenn., performs a pull, inspect and clean check (PIC) on the number four bravo boiler aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). The PIC check cleans excess carbon from the burner barrel atomizer, reducing fuel consumption and making the boiler more efficient. Kitty Hawk is America’s oldest active warship, comminisioned in 1961, and is the U.S. Navy's only forward deployed aircraft carrier. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer’s Mate Airman Theron J. Godbold.
