English: Naval Station Great Lakes, Ill. (Oct. 30, 2003) -- Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) Terry Scott reviews recruits during the General Quarters (GQ) portion of Recruit Training Command (RTC), Great Lakes known as “Battlestations.” This drill is the culmination of 8 weeks of training that puts recruits through arduous physical and mental challenges. The ceremony following the exercise signifies a transformation from civilian to United States Navy Sailor. All recruits must pass this drill before graduating from the U.S. Navy’s boot camp. During the ceremony, they change their uniform ball caps from "Recruit" to "Navy" which sets them apart from the rest of the junior divisions at the training command.
