English: Neum, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sep. 26, 2003) -- Cmdr. Chan Swallow, commanding officer of USS Nicholas (FFG 47), is escorted by a local official, shortly after an arrival ceremony on fleet landing in the port of Neum. The ceremony included introductions, gift giving, and playing of the national anthems. Nicholas is the first U.S. Navy ship ever to make a port visit to this city. Navy frigates carry a crew of 17 officers and 198 enlisted and provide anti-air warfare (AAW) and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) missions, supporting expeditionary forces, replenishment groups, and merchant convoys.
