English: Camp Patriot, Kuwait (Feb. 27, 2003) -- An Equipment Operator from Amphibious Construction Battalion One (ACB-1)[the Seabees] homeported in Coronado, Calif., prepares the beach for amphibious landing craft. From the island hopping of World War II and the cold of Korea, to the jungles of Vietnam, to the mountains of Bosnia, and to the desert of Afghanistan, the Seabees have built entire bases, bulldozed and paved thousands of miles of roadway and airstrips, and accomplished a myriad of construction projects. ACB-1 is deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. U.S. Navy photo by Journalist 1st Class Joseph Krypel. (RELEASED) |
