The LCAC is a high -speed, ship-to-shore and over-the-beach landing craft that can trasport equipment, personnel and weaposn systems form ships located beyound the horizon to hard landing poings and beaches beyond the waterline. The seven San Diego based ships that have deployed in support of future operations in the Central Command area of responsibility, will offload equipment and men belonging to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Battalion from Camp Pendleton, Calif.
