He is currently attending the Second Class Diver course of instruction at the Navy Diving and Salvage Training Center. He and his classmates practice building a flange while blind folded. The exercise indoctrinates the students to work in the dark environment of the ocean floor where visibility can be completely obscured by silt or extreme depths, additionally, it enhances mechanical skills and ensures tool discipline and accountability.
