Description
English: At sea aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 64) Jan. 21, 2003 -- An E-2C “Hawkeye” belonging to the “Liberty Bells” of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron One One Five (VAW-115) practices carrier approaches and landings during “touch and go” flight operations. Kitty Hawk and Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) provide a forward presence in the Asia/Pacific region as the world’s only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, home ported out of Yokosuka, Japan. Carrier Air Wing Five is based at Naval Air Station, Atsugi, Japan. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer’s Mate 3rd Class Todd Frantom. (RELEASED)
