English: At sea aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) Nov. 30, 2002 -- A Jewish chaplain conducts services aboard the aircraft carrier. Chaplains of all faiths serve aboard ships around the world, bringing counseling and spiritual sustenance to Sailors at sea. In 1941, during the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, it was a Navy Chaplain who is said to have uttered the legendary battle cry "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!" Over the last few years, the Muslim and Buddhist faiths have been added to the Chaplain Corps. U.S. Navy Photo. (RELEASED) |
