English: San Diego, CA (Jul. 23, 2002) -- U.S. Navy Captain Phillip Beierl, Officer In Charge aboard the high-speed experimental vessel “HSV-X1 Joint Venture” explains projected capabilities of the ship to members of the media before the beginning of the joint military experiment “Millennium Challenge.” Millennium Challenge 2002 (MC02) is this nation's premier joint integrating event, bringing together both live field exercises and computer simulation, and is scheduled from July 24 through August 15, 2002. MC02 will incorporate elements of all military services, most functional and regional commands and many DoD organizations and federal agencies.
