Summary

[edit]
Description
English: At sea aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) Mar. 21, 2002 -- USS Kitty Hawk tests the newly installed RIM-116A Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM). RAM is a lightweight quick-reaction high-firepower anti-ship weapon system. The RAM was designed as an all-weather, high-firepower, low-cost, self-defense system against anti-ship missiles. This is the first time an aircraft carrier has utilized the RAM system. Kitty Hawk is conducting work-ups in preparation for a scheduled deployment and is the Navy’s only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier operating out of Yokosuka, Japan.
