United States Army Intelligence Command Shoulder Sleeve Insignia Description On a blue shield 3 1/16 inches (7.78 cm) in height and 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) in width, a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) silver gray border within which is a yellow Sphinx above a demi-sun emitting seven rays sidewise and downward, all yellow. Symbolism The Sphinx symbolizes silence and wisdom. The sun, standing for light and guidance, refers to the leadership function of the Command. The rays are seven in number for the seven Intelligence Corps groups under the Command’s direction. Yellow or gold signifies successful accomplishment; oriental blue and silver gray are the Army Intelligence and Security Branch colors. Background The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved for the United States Army Intelligence Corps Command on 2 February 1965. It was redesignated for the United States Army Intelligence Command on 16 September 1965. (TIOH Dwg. No. A-1-396) |
