Description
English: SUCCESS LAKE, Calif. (Sept. 26, 2009) -- A Cub Scout from Troop 114 covers a pipe for a new sprinkler system at Success Lake Sept. 26, one of many park improvement projects completed as part of the park's celebration of National Public Lands Day. Scouts from Troops 114 and 3134 were among more than 250 volunteers from Porterville College's Anthropology and Geology Clubs, Burton Elementary School 4-H Club and other local residents to also help plant 13 trees, remove invasive species and pick up litter. Troop 114 Den Leader Deanna Chandler said the value of volunteering at Success is two-fold. "It's fun," she said, "and it's good for these boys to see what hard work goes into keeping up the park.""
