| Description | The U.S. Navy cruiser USS Wichita (CA-45) fires on Japanese ships during the Battle off Cape Engaño, 25 October 1944. The heavy cruisers Wichita and USS New Orleans (CA-32), together with the light cruisers USS Santa Fe (CL-60) and USS Mobile (CL-63), sank the light carrier Chiyoda (around 1700 hrs) and the destroyer Hatsuzuki (2059 hrs). New Orleans is visible behind Wichita. |
