Description The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Valley Forge (CV-45) steams out of Gibraltar harbour, en route to Bergen, Norway, during her cruise around the World, on 24 April 1948, after a 13-day visit. The photograph was taken from one of the carrier's aircraft, which had been based ashore during her visit to Gibraltar. Valley Forge, with assigned Carrier Air Group 11 (CVG-11), departed San Diego, California (USA), westwards on 9 October 1947 and arrived back on 11 June 1948.
