Description The U.S. Navy fleet oiler USS Severn (AO-61) refuels the aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CVA-12) in the Atlantic on 27 May 1954. The carrier was en route to Naples, Italy. Hornet, with assigned Carrier Air Group 9 (CVG-9), was on her around-the-world cruise from 11 May to 12 December 1954.
