English: The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Pringle (DD-477) in Purvis Bay, Nggela Islands, Solomon Islands, in August 1943, after her floatplane catapult was removed. A 40 mm twin was mounted on the fantail but not on the usual deckhouse between the 53 and 54 mounts. The destroyer in the left background appears to be USS Conway (DD-507). |
