Description
English: In San Francisco Bay, California, circa early 1946. Norman Friedman, in his book "U.S. Amphibious Ships and Craft" published in 2002, explained as follows: "Beginning with the invasion of Sicily, many LSTs were given a total of six davits for LCVPs, so they could function as semi-attack transports." (p.122)
