Description

English: Andre Hutchinson, 22, machinist's mate fireman, of Miami, takes measurements on the continuous treatment system in the No. 1 main machinery room aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk. The system injects chemicals into the tubes of the machinery room's two boilers in order to maintain proper pressure. Kitty Hawk, the Navy's only non-nuclear powered aircraft carrier, has four machinery rooms and eight boilers. Kitty Hawk operates from Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan.
