Description
English: The U.S. Navy destroyer escort USS Garfield Thomas (DE-193) off Pohnpei, Caroline Islands, in 1945. She arrived Eniwetok, 16 August 1945 and operated between the Marshalls and the Carolines, screening convoys and taking her turn as patrol ship until she departed Eniwetok on 8 December 1945 for Pearl Harbor.
The photo was taken from the deck of USS Farquhar (DE-139).
