Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The U.S. Navy submarine USS Flier (SS-250) and the submarine rescue ship USS Macaw (ASR-11) aground at Midway Atoll, 17 January 1944. The view is from East-North-East. The outflow from the channel into the lagoon is visible as a whitish band beyond Macaw. Note that the vessels are pointing in opposite directions—the Macaw north, in toward the lagoon, the Flier south and out to sea.
