Description
English: The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Evans (DD-552) underway on 27 February 1945, as seen from the escort carrier USS Makin Island (CVE-93). She is painted in Camouflage Measure 31, Design 7D.
Note that the wartime censor had removed the radar antenna aboove the Mark 37 gun director. The date given by the NHHC, 28 June 1943, is incorrect, as Evans was commssioned on 11 December 1943. For the correct date see photo 80-G-309731, link below.
