Summary

[edit]
Description The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea (CVA-43) returns to the United States in 1965. Coral Sea, with assigned Attack Carrier Air Wing 15 (CVW-15), was deployed to Vietnam from 7 December 1964 to 1 November 1965. Crewmembers line the flight deck behind a "331 days" sign, representing the 11 months the carrier spent in deployment to the Western Pacific. Aircraft of CVW-15 flew over 160 strikes, delivering over 5,440 t (6,000 tons) of ordnance against targets in Vietnam. The carrier steamed 169,000 km (105,000 mi) in waters of the Western Pacific - enough to circumnavigate the globe four times.
