Description The U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer USS Claude V. Ricketts (DDG-5) underway in 1965. Until 1 December 1965, Claude V. Ricketts operated with a mixed NATO crew made up of the officers and enlisted men of the following nations: USA (10/164), West Germany (2/40), Italy (2/30), Greece (2/24), United Kingdom (2/24), Netherlands (1/17) and Turkey (1/10). Its task was to prove the feasibility of a NATO Mulitlateral Force (MLF), what later became the NATO Standing Naval Force Atlantic and Mediterranean (StaNavForLant/StaNavForMed).
