Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Insignia of the U.S. Navy mine countermeasures support ship USS Catskill (MCS-1), adopted in 1967, when she was recommissioned as MCS-1.
Description: The design represents a composite of suggestions from the ship's officers and men. From the beginning, there was a consensus that a mine should be included in the design. Columns were suggested to represent the support function of the MCS and also to serve as a base for the ribbon with the ship's name. The bobcat is the result of a play on the words "cat" and "skill." The bolts of lightning represent the ship's role as a flagship. Colors were selected for their esthetic values.
