U.S. Space Force Lt. Gen. John Shaw, U.S. Space Command Deputy Commander, discusses the history of the USSPACECOM flag with Air Vice-Marshal Catherine Roberts, Australia Defence Space Command Commander, April 1, 2022, at USSPACECOM headquarters. The USSPACECOM flag was flown on the International Space Station, August 29, 2019, and was given to the command by U.S. Air Force astronaut Col. Nick Hague and U.S. Army astronaut Andrew Morgan. The Defence Space Command, which stood-up in March 2022, will conduct strategic space planning, assist in the development of refinement of space policy, guide scientific and technological space priorities and define a resilient and effective space architecture. U.S. Army Gen. James Dickinson, USSPACECOM commander, visited Australia March 20-26, 2022, to reaffirm the importance of space cooperation between the United States and Australia.
