Description The U.S. Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH-20) transits the Panama Canal at the Miraflores locks on 30 May 2009. U.s. service members on the ship were a part of "Continuing Promise 2009", a four-month humanitarian and civic assistance mission to Latin America and the Caribbean region. "Continuing Promise 2009" combined U.S. military and interagency personnel, non-governmental organizations, civil service mariners, academics and partner nations to provide medical, dental, veterinary and engineering services afloat and ashore alongside host nation personnel.
