Reist, during the 1st Marine Logistics Group sergeant major post and appointment/retirement ceremony at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Jan. 25. Cole handed the enlisted leadership reigns of the 1st Marine Logistics Group to Sgt. Maj. Dan L. Hakala, the former sergeant major of Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st MLG. Cole led the 9,000-Marine and Sailor strong unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2004 through January 2005. The 1st Marine Logistics Group provides combat service support, including logistical and medical support, to I Marine Expeditionary Force units. Hakala is a 48-year-old from Butte, Montana, and Cole is a 46-year-old from Gastonia, N.C. |
