English: MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (January 18, 2005) - Lance Cpl. Jeffrey R. Surdi began his Marine Corps career as a rifleman with 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment but found himself undeployable due to foot problems. The Mastic, N.Y., native now works at the casualty cell where his job is to keep track of injured Marines and keep units and families updated on the status of their Marine. Surdi's experience while recovering gave him a newfound interest in physical therapy. He plans on going to college and majoring in the field after his enlistment. "I have become familiar with physical therapy due to my injury," Surdi said. "My physical therapist really inspired me. I think it will be fulfilling and fun at the same time." Official Marine Corps photo by Pfc. Terrell A. Turner released. |
