Description
English: The commanding general of II Marine Expeditionary Force, Lt. Gen. Keith J. Stalder, stands in the center of the honorees for the first ever American Hero of the Year Awards at Sywanyks Scarlet & Gold Traditions nightclub, April 11. John Reed (far left), founder of the award, is a local businessman who has deep ties to the military community. Reed was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic actions during the Vietnam War. From left to right; John Reed, Cpl. John P. Kopek, Petty Officer 1st Class Vincent Soto, Lt. Gen. Stalder, Master Sgt. James A. Crawford, Mrs. Debbie Wert (wife of Master Sgt. Michael J. Wert) and 1st Sgt. Jack J. Pettis, who represented Sgt. Danny S. Santos.
