English: Petty Officer 3rd Class Nicholas Sleeman, a corpsman with the Police Advisor Team, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, Regimental Combat Team 2, demonstrates to Afghan Uniformed Police how to treat a sucking chest wound, with the assistance of Cpl. Nicholas Mosakowski, a team leader with the Police Advisor Team, during the field medical treatment portion of the AUP Advance Training Course held in Musa Qal’eh, Dec. 27. During the course AUP receive classes on weapons handling, field medical training, vehicle and personnel searches, along with patrolling and crime scene investigation techniques, as well as classes on afghan history and Law. To ensure the AUP receive a firm grasp of the techniques being taught during the course, each subject is broken into three sections. Each subject begins with a Class instruction session followed by a demonstration and hands on session and ends with a practical application scenario where AUP display their comprehension of the technique being covered. “The main goal is to give them the skills they’ll need to be what the people need,” said Sgt. Danna Berry, platoon sergeant for the Police Advisory Team. Sleeman is a 22-year-old native of St. Augustine Fl. (Official US Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Joshua J. Hines) |
