English: Brigadier Gen. James Lariviere, commanding general of 4th Marine Division, meets with unit leaders and planners of Javelin Thrust 2010 to discuss the final exercise at Hilton Ranch, Nev., June 19, 2010. Using a terrain model, planners and unit leaders briefed the general on their plans for the final exercise of Javelin Thrust 2010. “This is the first and only time that everyone gets to come together and discus what they bring to the mission,” said Lariviere. “It gives me the opportunity to ask them how they plan to operate during the final exercise.” Javelin Thrust is an annual exercise conducted by Marine Forces Reserve in several different locations in the Southwest. This year, more than 4,500 Marines from ground combat, logistical and aviation units are participating in the training, which resembles a Marine Air Ground Task Force operating in Afghanistan, in terms of both terrain and mission objectives. |
