English: Colonel Timothy S. Mundy(left), commanding officer, School of Infantry East, shakes hands with Col. Brennan T. Byrne, commanding officer, SOI West, as the two met in an effort to collaborate their approach to training on Camp Pendleton, Aug. 18. Mundy was recently appointed as the commander of SOI East May 29 and met with Byrne to discuss any differences in curriculum and new training developments. The Marine Corps is unique in that it has entry level training on both coasts, said Byrne. Communication between the two commanders is vital to coordinate quality training. "There are differences based on the location," said Mundy. "But regardless of which side he came from he is the same Marine." Mundy also had the opportunity to witness the graduation of 243 Marines from SOI West's Marine Corps Combat Training later that day. "I may be new to the school of infantry, but we still produce Marines of the highest caliber," added Mundy. |
